Growing up
I'm not sure if growing up is a conscious decision, or if it's something we can't really control. I'm not sure if it's a process, a painstakingly long journey, or a single moment of clarity that changes everything. Maybe it's all of these things; maybe it's none. Maybe how we grow up affects who we grow into as much as anything else does.
But eventually, the world chews us up and spits us out, and suddenly all we can see are shades of gray. Nothing is black anymore, nothing is white; but what is worst of all, nothing is in color. And as much as we try to bring them in again, there's no unseeing reality; no going back. Just forward, but without colors, direction seems meaningless. And we're stuck, stagnant, a never ending cycle of disillusion that you can't really ever break. So grown ups have their own set of delusions to give their world a semblance of meaning. People are classified and judged to better understand them, senses of purpose are developed to have some form of motivation to continue existing and with it, belief in destiny. Anything to make the world have meaning once again.
Broken. Evolved.

Are you here for the tour?
Heartbreak is a
rite of passage, a coming of age if you will.
Without being let
down, you can never be disillusioned
And
disillusionment?
Gateway to our reality.
More disillusioned
people join the real world everyday
Cynical and jaded.
They are no longer
blind, and sight gives them strength.
There is no hurt if you have nothing to feel.
Some people
require more than others.
They heal regress.
Their hearts break
multiple times; once, twice, a hundred times even but
Everyone breaks
eventually. And stay that way.
Welcome to our world.
It’s great here,
there is never any pain.
Nothing to lose,
so nothing’s in vain.
Happiness is
subjective, but loss is universal
Here, we all may
be damaged, but we’re the same.
In a world expecting change, disappointment is the
only constant.
